Technical Sales Engineer - Northwest &/or Midwest USA (Greater Chicago Area)

Job Description

As a member of the North American Sales Team, the Technical Sales Engineer will support customers and potential customers in the following areas:

• Identify opportunities where Solex solutions will assist our customers
• Provide thorough analysis and develop quotes and technical options to meet customer needs

Accountabilities

• Northwest &/or Midwest US based Sales Engineer to provide direct sales support to existing customers and to develop customer base in new markets such as plastics, chemicals, etc. Includes initial customer contact, presentation of quotes, sales visits and follow up.

Responsibilities

• Involved in evaluation, testing and test support as required for new applications
• Preliminary equipment sizing, preparation of preliminary and budget quotes for customers Involved in Solex sales and marketing strategy and planning.
• Involvement in commissioning, troubleshooting, and other duties as required for current and new projects
• Project Sponsor from inception to completion on new projects

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong process and/or Mechanical Engineering background
• Creative thinker with the ability to solve technical problems and display initiative
• Ability to develop and sell recommendations to provide solutions to customer issues
• Strong engineering skills and knowledge of customer oriented sales processes
• Travel will be required; successful applicants will reside and be able to commute to a major airport hub

Education and/or Equivalent Experience Required

• Bachelors/Masters degree in Engineering and Business
• Minimum 10 years combined Engineering and Business experience
• Spanish language capability would be a significant asset
• Process engineering experience with an emphasis on heat transfer is an asset

Job Description

• The Sales Engineer is the first contact to our customers in Europe (German speaking areas, East Europe), Middle East and Asia.
• She/He will travel extensively in the designated areas, identify new customers and applications, support local agents, attend trade shows and conferences, submit and follow up quotes.
• Sales activities are supported by our Application and Technical Service Engineers based in Europe and Canada.
• The Sales Engineer reports to the Vice President Sales - Europe & International.

Responsibilities

• P.Eng., Dipl.-Ing. or Technical School graduate (Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering) with several years of experience in technical sales in the above designated areas.
• The successful applicant is a team player as well as highly self motivated. She/He needs to posses very good interpersonal and communication skills and demonstrate a focused approach to customer service.
• German and English languages are required; other languages an asset.
• Work from a Home Office, extensive traveling required.
