Solids Matter — Winter 2022

Our customer-centric culture

Welcome to Solids Matter for Winter 2022!

In this edition, we are highlighting our passion for listening to our customers.

Why? Because we understand that you come to us to help you develop and deliver solutions that produce results. This is what is most important to us.

By listening to and working with our customers, we have been able to develop a deep expertise in how to heat, cool and dry granular solids in moving bed heat exchangers (MBHEs). With our work taking us into a variety of applications and industries around the world, we believe the cross-pollination of our experience and knowledge benefits all customers. And we are happy to share our knowledge with you, because we believe this may inspire you to think about how MBHEs can be used to improve the processing of solids (that matter)!

In addition to our continued attention on MBHEs, we are also bringing our expertise to applications outside our traditional markets. This includes, for example, using our proven discharge feeders in bulk material handling applications, as well as cooling systems for marine applications.

Meanwhile, we are continuing our journey with Mosman Stainless Steel to become a fully integrated producer of our heat transfer technology. With a focus on fabrication, we are working on ways to increase the value we can bring to customers by improving the robustness, operability and maintainability of our equipment. Furthermore, our relationship has also motivated us to find new ways to reduce both the carbon and energy footprint of our equipment.

Our passion for energy extends beyond the pride we take in our energy-efficient technology. This is also pushing us to explore using MBHE applications in the areas of energy recovery, energy re-use and energy storage. This includes applications in not only renewable energy (e.g., concentrated solar power), but also, importantly, in many industrial processes  from the production of batteries to the use of chemical energy converted to thermal energy that is then used to pre-heat solids prior to further processing.

Please enjoy this edition of Solids Matter. We look forward to hearing from you should you have questions or comments, or if you think our technology can be an enabler that will produce results for you.
