Solids Matter — Summer 2021
Making sense of this brave new world
Welcome to our Summer 2021 edition of Solids Matter. Here in the northern hemisphere, we are just settling into a summer season. And with the COVID-19 pandemic slowly being wrestled to the ground, we are all looking forward to a bit more freedom to travel and get together with family and friends.
The first half of 2021 has been interesting and challenging. As a company that provides our technology to companies around world, there seems to be a wave of COVID-19 happening somewhere that requires us to adapt and be flexible. Adding to this is a global economy picking up momentum, resulting in rising prices for all sorts of commodities.
While our customers are seeing the benefit of this on one hand, the other hand also has had to deal with rising input costs. For example, stainless steel prices in Europe have increased by 45 to 50% since Jan. 1. The increased demand not only for commodity goods, but also retail products, has also impacted on transportation logistics and shipping. It now costs more and takes longer to move goods around. Here at Solex, with our customers’ interests always front of mind, we have been working hard to help manage the impact of rising costs across all aspects of what we do.
We continue to see growing interest for the robust and low-operating-cost heat exchange solutions we provide across a wide range of applications. Our customers are telling us that while our solutions make economic sense for them, they also provide the benefits they are looking for in order to align with their ESG objectives.
The science and engineering that goes into building and operating indirect moving bed heat exchangers is not always apparent or available. Gerald Marinitsch, Solex’s Global Director for Industrial Products, has been helping bridge this information gap through a series of articles published on LinkedIn starting this past March. I encourage you to check them out.
Please enjoy this edition of Solids Matter. We are here to support you in finding a heat transfer solution that fits your needs and does what it needs you to do. Please reach out to us for any questions you might have.
