Minerals & Sands

Heating and Cooling of Minerals and Sands

The Solex heat exchanger is capable of handling high temperature minerals and sands of up to 2000ºC. Accurate and even temperature profiling is an important step in the heating and cooling of minerals and sands for the success of downstream processes.

Minerals and Sands used in our exchanger include:

  • Activated Carbon
  • Activated Alumina
  • Carbon Black
  • Catalyst
  • Chromite Sand
  • Ceramic Beads
  • Clay Granules
  • Coal Ash
  • Coal Fines
  • Copper Ore
  • Copper Powder
  • Fluid Cracking Catalyst
  • Limestone
  • Nickel Chloride
  • Nickel Kiln Dust
  • Nickel Oxide
  • Petroleum Coke
  • Phosphate Rock
  • Resin-Coated Sand
  • Sand
  • Silica Ash
  • Frac Sand

Watch how the Solex heat exchanger works to heat and cool minerals and sands:

Low Abrasion

Not only is our exchanger capable of effectively heating and cooling highly abrasive materials,  the mass flow design of the Solex unit allows for low product velocities and low pressure on the heat exchanger plates resulting in minimal abrasion to the unit itself. As a result, maintenance costs are drastically lowered.

Accurate & Uniform Temperature Profile

Many processes require accurate and even temperature profiles during heating and cooling. For example, careful control of the temperature of sand is required during the resin-coating process to ensure the even distribution of the resin on the proppant. Regardless of whether the product requires heating or cooling, Solex thermal modeling capabilities guarantee even temperature profiles for the finished product, even when handling high temperature products.
