Thermal modeling of the bulk solids cooling or heating process is essential to ensure the heat exchanger performs as expected. Without accurate thermal modeling, a heat exchanger may not produce the outcome expected and fail to meet your process requirements.
The challenge when working with bulk solids is that conventional heat exchanger equations for calculating heat transfer (Q=U.A.LMTD) do not allow for the variables that exist in a bulk solids heat exchanger, making it difficult to calculate final product temperatures.

Indirect heat transfer in bulk solids follows a conduction model that is defined by a Fourier series. This conduction model - in a modified form to take into account variations in fluid-side temperatures - is engineered into ThermaPro, the proprietary Solex Thermal Modeling Software Program.
