Cooling Dried Biosolids

Dried biosolid pellets are formed by drying sewage sludge to make an organic fertilizer. The pellets must be cooled before they are conveyed to storage bins to prevent smoldering and combustion.

The Solex SIGMA series cooler has been used to cool dried biosolids since 1992, with units supplied worldwide.

Biosolids refers to treated sludge.  It is the byproduct of treated domestic wastewater within a wastewater treatment plant.  Heavily treated biosolids can be used in regulated applications including fertilizer to condition soil.
